Styles let you track different versions of the same letter, number, or symbol. The most common use case is different sizes, but styles work for any variation.
Styles = Sizes (and More)
If you carry the same letter in multiple sizes, styles are how you tell Asset Assign they are separate sets. For example:
- Letter "A" with style "3ft LED" (you own 6)
- Letter "A" with style "15in LED" (you own 2)
The phrase checker treats each style independently. When a client asks for "HAPPY BIRTHDAY" in your 3ft LED set, the checker only looks at your 3ft LED inventory. Your 15in letters are not affected.
Styles are not limited to sizes. You could also use them for finishes (Gold, Silver, Rose Gold), materials (Wood, Acrylic), or anything else that makes one version of a letter different from another.
How to Assign Styles
There are three ways to assign styles:
- CSV import: Include the style name in the "style" column when you upload your inventory. Style names must match exactly (spelling and capitalization).
- Bulk assign: In the Inventory page, select multiple items using the checkboxes, then choose or create a style from the bulk action bar.
- Individual edit: Click any inventory item and set or change its style.
Important Things to Know
- Styles only apply to Letters, Numbers, and Symbols. Categories like Other Marquees, Backdrops, and Props do not use styles.
- Each style is checked in complete isolation. A letter in one style has no connection to the same letter in another style.
- If you have a small accent piece (like a 12-inch apostrophe) that you always pair with your main set, assign it to your primary style so the phrase checker can find it. You can note the actual size in the description field.
- Style names are case-sensitive. "3ft LED" and "3ft led" would be treated as two different styles.
